Monash Geodynamics Seminar Series

in conjuction with the
University of Melbourne ESPG Seminar Series

The Dynamic Limits of Craton Thickness
Dr Katie Cooper
Department of Terrestrial Magnetism
Carnegie Institute of Washington

4pm, Friday 18th April 2008
Fritz Loewe Lecture Theatre, School of Earth Sciences (Bld 200)
The University of Melbourne (Map - Grid E 23)

Abstract: Sure, you can get craton thickness estimates from xenoliths and seismic images, but what's the story behind these thicknesses? Join me in a discussion of the dynamic limits of craton thickness based on their creation, preservation and relationship with the 410-km seismic discontinuity.

Katie's seminar will be followed by further discussion and refreshments in the 4th Floor Tea Room, and dinner at a nearby restaurant. Please contact Dave Stegman to RSVP.
